Kenny's mobility scooter gave him the freedom to continue living life as he checked off countless experiences from his bucket list. Putting up flags on headstones at Fort Snelling for Memorial Day. Visiting Normandy. Going on a Navy ship again. Getting a tattoo. Train ride. Visiting Alaska. Hot air balloon ride. Riding in an Army tank. Giving scooters to other veterans.
Kenny receiving his mobility scooter marked the beginning of a new chapter in Kenny's life. The scooter didn't simply restore Kenny's mobility. It gave him the confidence to start living again. Instead of wondering what he could no longer do, he focused on everything that was now possible... because of the scooter.
Through Because of the Scooter, the Patriotic Kenny Foundation will help select mobility scooter recipients accomplish one meaningful bucket list experience made possible by their restored mobility. Whether it is attending a family reunion, visiting a military memorial, returning to a favorite fishing spot, seeing the ocean for the first time, volunteering in their community, reconnecting with fellow service members, or pursuing another lifelong dream, we want to help make that moment a reality. Every experience is unique because every veteran's story is unique.
This initiative is a natural extension of our mission. We do not simply provide mobility scooters. We help end isolation and restore independence through mobility scooters. Every scooter opens a door to experiences, relationships, memories, and moments that mobility challenges may have taken away. Because of the Scooter celebrates restored independence while carrying forward Kenny's spirit by helping other veterans continue writing their own stories. Sometimes the greatest gift is not the scooter itself, but everything that becomes possible because of it.

At the Patriotic Kenny Foundation, we have always believed that a mobility scooter is about far more than transportation. It is about restoring freedom, independence, dignity, and joy. For many veterans, receiving a scooter is not the end of the journey, instead, it is the beginning of a new chapter filled with opportunities that once felt out of reach. That belief inspired our newest initiative, Because of the Scooter.
When Kenny found out he had cancer, his first response was, "I could say it isn't fair, but what isn't fair is the kind of life I've been able to live for the last five years that other people haven't been able to experience." His words captured something we had witnessed firsthand, that his extraordinary years were enriched by the freedom to keep saying "yes" to life, made possible by something many people might otherwise overlook: a mobility scooter.
